The Butte College Trustees have appointed Julie Boss, an Orland and Glenn County resident, as the interim Glenn County Trustee for Area 6 at a special board meeting held July 16.
“I’m excited to have the opportunity to work with the Butte College Board of Trustees and President Samia Yaqub to ensure continued growth and educational excellence to meet the needs of our students, our workforce, and our communities,” said Julie Boss.
Julie Boss has worked 38 years as an entrepreneur and business professional, serving as the co-owner and CFO of M&J Boss, Inc., for six years in Orland. Since 2000, she has been the co-owner of Boss Manufacturing.
“Julie brings a wealth of knowledge, and experience in management, business, leadership and community relations as a trustee,” said Samia Yaqub, Butte College President.
Her community involvement includes serving on the Butte College Foundation Board, Diocese of Sacramento North State Chair for Development Directors, Notre Dame School Guardian Angel Program, Glenn County Farm Bureau, and Orland Historical Society. Boss was appointed to the Board in July, following the death of Fred Perez, a longstanding Trustee. Boss will hold the Glenn County Trustee Area 6 seat until the November 6 election.
“In honor of Fred, I would like to carry on his legacy with the same dedication and commitment he had with students and the community,” said Boss. “Additionally, I would like to work with Glenn County education administrators to help pave the way for more students to attend Butte College for career programs, certificate programs, or transfer opportunities.”
